ハワイイ最高権威の音楽賞
ナ・ホク・ハノハノ・アワード授賞式

受賞者リストがスター・アドヴァタイザー紙に
掲載されたので速報としてお伝えする

特筆すべきは
日本のスラック・キー・ギター・レジェンド
山内雄喜氏が
”Ki Ho’alu Foundation Legacy Award”を受賞したことだろう
Ki Ho’aluとはスラック・キー・ギターのこと

 

 

山内氏の40年を超える日本、ハワイイでの音楽活動に対して
ハワイイの音楽界が敬意を表してくれた
この賞はかつて山内氏の師匠である
レイ・カーネにも送られている

 

 

師匠と同じ賞を受け取ったことは大きな喜びであろう

そして今年スポットを浴びたのは
2011年のナ・ホクを席巻したマーク・ヤマナカ
3年ぶりのセカンドアルバム “Lei Maile”

Album of the Year、Hawaiian Music Album of the Yearを受賞
Single of the Yearは“Maui Under Moonlight”で獲得した
さらにはMale Vocalist of the Yearもカマカ・クコナとのW受賞となった
これはここ30年間で初めてのことだそうだ
このアルバムはLiner Noteの賞も獲得している

さらに、ハワイイアン・レゲエの第一人者ザ・グリーンが

レゲエ部門のReggae Album of the Yearはもちろん
一般人気投票のFavorite Entertainer of the Year
カテゴリーを越えたGroup of the Yearを“Hawai‘i ’13″で獲得
これは、ハワイイアン・レゲエが市民権をHARA内部でも認知された
新しい流れと言える

そして、毎夏ナレオと日本にやってくるのでおなじみの
カマカ・クコナはMale Vocalist of the Year、Most Promising Artist of the Year

クウパオアがHaku Mele (Composer Award)、Hawaiian Language Performance
Island Music Album of the Year
などの面々が主要部門を複数受賞している

そしてUkulele Album of the Yearは
“Pure” でハーブ・オオタ・ジュニア

Compilation Album of the Year (Producer Award)は
公開が待ち遠しい映画 “The Haumana Soundtrack” が入った

そして、Moe Keale “Aloha Is” Award for Community Serviceが
ハワイイアンミュージックのレジェンドDJ
Jacqueline “Skylark” Rossetti｜スカイラーク・ロゼッティーに
送られたことも書き加えておく

日本人がノミネートされている
International Album Recognition Award
“Moe‘uhane,” Hoene ｜ホネアが受賞した
不勉強で聴いたことがないのだが関西で活躍しているという
この賞は関西勢が強い印象

ちなみに…この賞に関しては賞の基準や誰が審査しているのかは
一切公表されていない

個人的に気になったミュージシャンは
R&B Album of the Yearを獲ったYOZA
彼女がウィリー・Kと演奏したパフォーマンスには驚いた

そして賞とは関係なかったが
ヘンリー・カポノとジェイク・シマブクロの
大人の渋い演奏もしびれた

Music Video/DVDを獲得した
“Let’s Play Music: Slack Key With Cyril Pahinui & Friends”
これもお気に入りの映像で日本語字幕を付けたくて
一月ほど前に‘Oiwiに連絡したけれど連絡が来ないww

 

デニス・カマカヒ、チノ・モンテロを亡くしたばかりの
ナ・ホクは彼らに対する思いがたっぷり含まれていた

チノに賞を取って欲しかったが…
それも…また良かったのかもしれない
